How To Add Album Art In Windows Media Player 12


If you are wondering what is an Album Art, then let us first explain what is it. Album Art is an album cover which is usually the CD/DVD cover of the album. Below is an example how an Album Art looks in Windows Media Player 12.

Many of the albums in your library may be missing Album Art information. Albums with no Album Art is shown with a common icon in Windows Media Player 12 such as the one shown in screen-shot below. It is a mp3 music file.

Thankfully, Windows Media Player lets you to download Album Art. You need to just have internet connection and Windows Media Player 12 to find and download Album Art for your library. Most of popular Video and Music Albums are listed in the Microsoft Store.

Here is how you can find and download Album Art for an Album.

1. Right-click on the song/video and then select “Find album info” from the menu.

2. Windows Media Player now searches it’s metaservices site and gives you a list of matches. Select the one that matches your video or music file album, and then click “Next” button.

3. In the following window, click “Finish” button.

4. That’s it.  WMP12 adds the album art info to the file,

If you were unlucky and Windows Media player couldn’t automatically fetch matching album art for you in Step 2, you can add the album art your selves.

1. Download the CD/DVD cover or image from internet. (You can use image search services like Google Images etc). A sample image is shown below: sample-album-art

2. Right-click on the downloaded image file and then choose “Copy”.

3. In the Windows Media Player, make sure the files are listed in “Album” view.

4. Right-click on the file for which  you want to apply the copied image as Album Art.

That’s it. WMP will automatically add the album art to all the songs in the album.
