What’s New In Android 3.0 Honeycomb – The Next Big Thing For Android

Honeycomb is the next big thing in Android. Google showcased this all-new android platform at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas earlier this month. Android 3.0 Honeycomb is mainly designed for larger screen-size android devices such as tablets, which are unarguably one of the fastest growing gadgets in the industry.

So what’s in the new Android platform? Android developers are mainly concentrating on developing and enhancing features optimized for the increased width of the screen-size. Which means try to squeeze in things like preview of emails alongside the inbox to account for width increase, better browser similar to Google Chrome and things like that. Google gave a sneak preview at the CES. Let’s see what’s new in it.

Android 3.0 will be carrying all the features from the current version of android platform, the Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Apart from that, there will be many refinements including enhanced multi-tasking, elegant looking notifications, home screen customization with a new 3D experience and redesigned widgets with added interactivity.

Internet browsing experience will be better with some powerful upgrades to it. The browser will carry features from it’s computer counterpart the Google Chrome browser including tabbed browsing, auto-fill form data, bookmarks sync, and incognito private browsing.

Other new features include Google Maps 3D with offline reliability, Google Talk with video and voice chat and access to Google eBooks. Currently, this is what Google released to public officially about the new Android 3.0 Honeycomb platform. You may taste Honeycomb by checking out their Android 3.0 Honeycomb preview video.
