Apple App Store Vs Android Market Comparison; See Who Leads!
The App Genome Project (AGP) has recently concluded a comparison of Apple’s App Store and Android Market considering every possible aspect of both. The comparison is based on six month data taken from Aug 2010 to Feb 2011 and is primarily focused on rough number of apps for both as shown in the graph below:

Two things are clearly visible from the graph and these are the steady growth in Android apps and huge difference in total number of apps for Android and iOS. Android Apps have got a firm growth from about 40k apps to nearly 100k apps in the given period whereas iOS apps are on a race and counts from 250k to 350k by registering a stunning 16,000 apps a month. There are some other interesting aspects of the comparison which include the free vs paid ratio for both Android apps and iOS apps. There is no surprise in this section as Android always had lead in free apps over iOS apps as demonstrated via graph below:

Nearly 22% of Android apps were paid apps in Aug 2010 and this ratio is slightly increased in Feb 2011 and counts to 34%. This means Android is seeking more paid apps than iOS as iOS has recorded a decline from 70% paid apps in Aug 2010 to 66% paid apps in Feb 2011. The comparison is filled with interesting graphs and charts indicating various points.
