Apple iPad Features, Specs And Price

Finally putting an end to all rumors that have been rife, Apple has revealed it’s latest creation, iPad at the January 27th event in San Francisco. iPad is a tablet device which currently runs on iPhone OS 3.2 Beta. iPhone OS 3.1.2 has already been jailbroken using redsn0w and sn0wbreeze, so we will have to wait and see if some would be able to jailbreak iPad running on 3.2 firmware. Here are the details of this device, which was expected to be named as  iSlate or iTablet before the official announcement took place.

Display: High resolution 9.7 inch LED-backlit, IPS capacitive multi touch display

Resolution: 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi)

Weighs 1.5 lbs (Wi-Fi model) and 1.6 lbs (3G)and is 0.5 inches thin.

Up to 10 hrs battery life for normal web surfing, watching videos or listening to music and almost 1 month standby life. Can be charged via power adapter or USB.

802.11 Wi-Fi enabled. A separate 3G model would be available.

Sensors include accelerometer and ambient light sensor.

Internal memory available as 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB.

iPad can run almost 140,000 of the 3 billion applications currently available in the App Store.

Built in apps include iPod music player app, YouTube app to watch high quality HD videos, Maps, Calendar, Contacts, Home Screen, iBooks, iWorks suite, iTunes, Notes, and Email.

Price:

Apple iPad is set to be released in 2 models, iPad and iPad 3G. The 3G model is expected to be available in stores in around 3 months, while the normal one may come as soon as 2 months to retail.

iPad comes in two models, with and without 3G. Price details are as follows. WiFi model will be available at retail in 60 days time while the one with WiFi+3G will be available in 90 days from today.
