How To Convert WAV To MP3 Using FileBlender

WAV files are not only bulky in size, but also cannot be played on your CD players. Hence you need to convert WAV to more friendly formats such as MP3, FLAC, or OGG so that you can play the music anywhere you like. FileBlender is a very versatile tool which lets you do many file conversions by simple drag & drop, including image conversion, audio conversion, splitting or merging PDF files, etc.

Here is how you can use FileBlender to convert WAV to MP3.

1. Download and unzip the archive (download link given below). Double click on FileBlender.exe file to run the program. FileBlender is a standalone utility, so there is no need for installation. You can copy the folder to your USB drive, and use this portable tool anywhere.

2. FileBlender has a very basic user interface. You can add WAV files for conversion by dragging and dropping all selected files onto the ‘Select or Drop Files’ button. Or click on that button to open Windows Explorer dialog to select files.

You can add multiple files by selecting them with CTRL or SHIFT button pressed.

3. You are given 4 conversion options for WAV files, including FLAC, MP3 (CBR), MP3 (VBR), and OGG. For converting WAV into MP3, choose MP3 (CBR), for universal playability.

4. In the next step, choose the Bitrate for MP3 conversion. The available Bitrate options are 128 Kbps, 192 Kbps, 256 Kbps, and 320 Kbps.

6. Finally, the conversion is done, and you will find the output files in a folder named ‘out’ in the same folder as the source files.

Converting WAV to FLAC, MP3 (VBR), or OGG is similar to the above steps. In case of MP3 (VBR), you can choose between High and Low quality in step 4, where as for OGG you can choose between High, Medium, and Low quality.

Conversion the other way is also possible. That is you can convert MP3 into WAV, FLAC, OGG, FLAC into WAV, MP3 (both CBR, VBR), OGG, and so on.
