Create Bootable USB Drive Or DVD To Install Windows 7 From ISO
Those of you who have purchased a downloadable ISO file of Windows 7 OS from Microsoft Store will have to first create a bootable media for it. You can copy the ISO to a media such as USB or DVD before you install Windows 7 from it.
Note: In case you want to create a bootable USB, you need a Flash Drive of at least 4GB capacity.
A small and free utility called Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool has been released by Microsoft. This tool gives you a step by step wizard to create a bootable USB Drive or DVD.
1. Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool from Microsoft Store.
2. Install the tool. If your OS is Windows XP, you may be required to first install Microsoft .NET Framework v2 and Microsoft Image Mastering API v2 prior to installing the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool.
3. Run the tool as an administrator. In Step 1 of 4, you are asked to browse and choose the Windows 7 ISO File on your computer.
3. Select the ISO File and click Next.
4. In Step 2 of 4, you are prompted to select the media type for creating your Windows 7 backup.
5. Click either USB Device or DVD buttons, as per your need.
6.In Step 3 of 4, Click Begin Copying.
7. In the next Step, Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool starts copying the ISO image onto the USB or DVD.
It may take several minutes for the process to finish. Once done, you can install Windows 7 from the bootable USB or DVD.
