How To Create Custom Theme Pack In Windows 7

After downloading and using some of the official Windows 7 theme packs such as 7up, Avatar, Twinkle Wish, Samsung Winter Sports, Valentines Day and so on, you might be wanting to create a theme of your own using your vacation or party pictures. Or simply you may want to create a theme using only your favorite wallpapers taken from Windows 7 default Aero and regional themes. In this article we give the steps to create your own theme pack in Windows 7.

A theme pack in Windows 7 is a collection of desktop backgrounds, Window color scheme, System Sounds, Screen Saver, Desktop icons, and Mouse pointers. So you can customize each of these individually. Start off by collecting your favorite wallpapers or pictures and place all of them into a folder on your desktop.

1. Right click on your desktop and select ‘Personalize’.

2. In the ‘Personalization’ screen click on ‘Desktop Background’ that can be found towards the bottom.

3. In the following screen, browse and select your images folder. All these pictures will now be added to the theme pack. You can also set these wallpapers to rotate in a slideshow.

4. Click on ‘Save changes’ to return to the ‘Personalization’ screen.

5. Change ‘Windows Color’, ‘Sounds’, ‘Screen Saver’, ‘Desktop Icons’, and ‘Mouse Pointers’ in a similar way by clicking on each of these links.

6. When you are done, click on ‘Save Theme’ (see first image above). Give a name for your theme pack. This theme will now be added to the ‘My Themes’ and also applied to your desktop.

In case you want to share this newly created theme with your friends or family, simply right click on the theme in the Personalization window and select ‘Save theme for sharing’. Once you give a name, the theme can be saved to your Computer as a .themepack.

Any time  you want to customize this theme, you can select this theme and follow the steps above.
