Create Photo Slide Shows and Videos in less than a minute with new Windows Live Movie Maker
Microsoft has added the new Windows Live Movie Maker to Windows Live Essentials suite, a set of free and useful software designed to enhance Windows User experience. According to Microsoft, Windows Live Movie Maker is the first application that has been designed for Windows 7 and takes advantage of it’s expanded support for HD video.
Windows Live Movie Maker lets you create stunning movies and slideshows with transitional effects very quickly from your videos, photos and music. It has an intuitive and a similar ribbon interface that is present in all Windows and Office applications.
With it’s “Live Preview” feature, you can preview and choose the best effects for your photos and videos before applying them, similar to the Office applications. If you want to get a photo slideshow or video made in under a minute then “Auto Movie” is for you. With this feature, you can simply add the photos, videos and music to Windows Live Movie Maker and it will automatically interweave the selected media with some striking effects and transitions, along with your chosen background music.
Windows Live Movie Maker has some rich photo and video editing capabilities. More than 60 transitions, 18 pan and zoom options and 20 visual effects are available to choose from. Video can be trimmed and split. Transitional effects like cross-fade, dissolve, pixelate etc add that professional touch to your home made videos.
Video Sharing to YouTube, Facebook and other sites is made easy by Windows Live Movie Maker. You can post videos to YouTube in a few clicks from it’s main menu. A plug-in is available for Facebook to publish photos and videos. For other social media sites, plug-ins are yet to be available. You can also share by burning photos and videos to a DVD or save it in HD format on your PC, which can be later played on TV. Conversion to common mobile device formats like Xbox, Zune, iPod etc. is also possible.
Other features include fitting content to the length of the chosen background track, Storyboard view which makes it easy to rearrange the frames of your movie or slideshow by dragging and dropping, ability to save in High Definition format (480, 720 and 1080 p).
Though Windows Live Movie Maker is optimized for Windows 7 (as well as Windows 7 RC), it works on Windows Vista also. Unfortunately it does not work on any other earlier versions of Windows like Windows XP.
