CrystalDiskInfo: Monitor Hard Disk Health, Avoid Data Loss
How often did you face data loss due to hard disk failure? Did it give a warning before the crash? In most cases, the answer is “No”. Hard disk failures are not predictable easily. Although some methods like hearing read/write sound, checking for disk errors may give you some idea about hard disk health, one of the prime factor in judging hard disk health is temperature and S.M.A.R.T attributes. These values cannot be monitored by any of inbuilt Windows OS features.
Crystal Disk Info is a freeware that lets you keep an eye on the health of the hard disk drive. As soon as you run the program after installation, it gives a detail report of the internal hard disk as well as external hard disk connected to your PC.
For instance our test PC hard disk shows Health Status as “Caution” and has a temperature of 56degC. The other external hard disk connected to the PC has the status “Good” with a temperature of 30degC.
It also gives a detail report of other S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) attributes of the hard disk drive. The utility also gives a detailed hardware report for each drive including it’s serial number and supported features.
