Disable HSPA / HSDPA For Improved Battery Life In Android

Android Phones are great and they have unarguably changed many of our lives. But most of the Android based phones have low battery life. The battery life is further decreased on installing many apps because most of them run in background continuously.

We have already shown how turning off EDGE/3G/GPRS can save battery life. Now we have another way for improving android phone battery life by disabling HSPA / HSDPA. We have tested it on Samsung Galaxy S and should work with other models too.

1. Open –> Keypad and dial *#301279#

2. The device will get into ServiceMode display. Click “[2] CHANGE HSPA REVISION”.

That’s it. Tap back and exit to Home. The settings gets saved and you will see a increase in life of battery. The settings remains in spite of reboots.

To Revert Settings

At anytime you wish to revert the settings to default,

1. Open –> Keypad and dial *#301279#

2. The device will get into ServiceMode display. Click “[2] CHANGE HSPA REVISION”.

3. In the following screen, click “[3] RELEASE 6 (HSDPA/HSUPA)”.
