Easily Search for Text Inside Any File with File Hound

Searching for text inside files using Windows Built-in search is not so convenient as it just displays the files. So you have to open each file yourself and look for the text again. File Hound is a free and powerful text search program which can find the given keywords in any file, including Microsoft Office documents (DOC, XLS, PPT, RTF), PDF files, stored web pages (HTML, ASPX) and even binary files.

With File Hound you can view all files filtered by the query string as a list in the upper pane, while the file itself is displayed in the bottom viewer with a highlighting of all instances of the string. Searching an entire folder is easy, as you can simply start the search from it’s right click context menu. This Windows Freeware lets you filter files by their size and use wildcards for keywords. However you cannot filter files by their type. A very handy utility for text-searching inside files.
