How to assign Keyword Shortcuts to Firefox Bookmarks?

We all know how to add bookmarks to our favorite sites and then later go directly to these sites by selecting the bookmarks from the Bookmarks Menu. However as the number of Bookmarks increases, finding them in the long list becomes a pain and we rather start typing the URL in the address bar. Firefox has an advanced feature of assigning ‘keywords‘ to bookmarks which can get to your favorite site in a jiffy! Let us see how to do this.
For creating a keyword (shortcut) for a bookmark,

  • Go to the Bookmarks library
  • Choose the bookmark for which you want to assign a keyword (shortcut).
  • Click on ‘More‘ to view the label Keyword and it’s text field.
  • Now enter a keyword(s) for this bookmark and close the window. Firefox saves it automatically. For e.g. we have assigned ‘dks’ to our home page.

The next time you want to go to this web site, quickly go to the address bar(shortcut is F6) and type the keyword and press enter.

Start assigning Keywords to all your bookmarks to increase your productivity right away.
