Fix For ‘Cannot Print To Shared Printer’ Problem In Windows 7
Consider a scenario where you are trying to send a print job to a shared printer from your Windows 7 PC. Is the print job constantly failing? This situation arises for printer drivers based on Microsoft XML Paper Specification (XPS) or XPSDrv drivers. The reason for the print job failing could be due to a wrong setting for the printer under consideration. Here are the steps for correct configuration, as given by Microsoft KB980871.
1. Right click on the Shared printer and select ‘Properties’.
2. In the ‘Sharing’ tab, clear the check box ‘Render print jobs on client computers’.
That’s it. This should solve the problem.
