Fix Corrupt MP3 Files Caused By Incomplete Download With MP3val

How many times have you ended up with a corrupt MP3 file after  a download? Sometimes a re-downloading of the file may be the solution. But in cases where you are unable to re-download it, you don’t have to get disappointed about not being able to hear the track you have waited for so long. MP3val is a free and open source tool which can fix corrupt MP3 files caused by interrupted downloads.

MP3val checks for the integrity of the MP3 file by analyzing the track length stored in the VBR header. It does not overwrite the original file. A backup copy is maintained always. MP3val removes the garbage from the corrupt MP3 files. Besides supporting MPEG 1 Layer III (MP3), MP3Val also supports other versions and layers of MPEG.

MP3Val is available as a core command line interface. Basic users who are not comfortable with this may use one of the two front-ends: MP3val-frontend – the Windows native application or mp3valgui – a multi-platform Python script which works on both Windows and Linux (BSD).
