Android 2.1 Gallery For Android 2.0.1
Have you wished to get the stunning Gallery which is available on Android 2.1 on your phone? Thanks to Berzerker, forum member of droidforums, you can now get Android 2.1 Gallery on your Android phone running on 2.0.1. So in case you want to enjoy the cool 2.1 gallery without upgrading your ROM, here are the steps:
2. Extract the file (gallery.apk.zip) on your PC. (Do not rename the extracted file).
3. Connect your device and run the adb shell.
4. Install the gallery.apk file to your phone.
adb install /path/to/gallery.apk
5. In case you want to take up a back up of your old gallery here are the steps:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
busybox mv /system/app/Gallery.apk /system/app/Gallery.bak
6. Steps for removing the old gallery:
adb shell $ su # mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system # /path/to/busybox mv /system/app/Gallery.apk /system/app/Gallery.bak # sync # exit $ exit
You do not need root access on your Android in order to install the new gallery. However if you want to remove the old gallery along with the alarm clock for avoiding the repetition, you need a rooted device. In order for the desk clock of 2.1 to function you will need the Genie Widget from 2.1 which can be downloaded here. You can now enjoy the 2.1 Gallery including the desk clock, weather, slideshow, integrated accelerometer etc.
