GreenPois0n iOS 4.1 iPhone 4 Jailbreak Release Confirmed!

Finally we have some good news for all those waiting to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad. GreenPois0n, the low level bootrom jailbreak for iOS devices has a confirmed release date, coming Sunday. The ETA is on 10/10/10 at 10:10:10 AM. Sounds fun, isn’t it? A day to remember!

Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, iPad, Apple TV 2G

For the unaware, GreenPois0n is a SHAtter based exploit that has been in the works for quite some time, with successful attempts at jailbreaking iPod Touch 4G and also the recently released Apple TV 2G. It can jailbreak all 4th generation iOS devices, including iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G on iOS 4.1 and iPad 3.2.2.

GreenPois0n is a untethered jailbreak. MuscleNerd tweets:

SHAtter is yet another breed of exploit. Bootrom-based but requires userland “assistance” for untethered boots (@comex did this for 4.1)

He also says that SHAtter exploit itself was tethered, but iPhone hacker Comex came up with a way to untether the jailbreak on iOS 4.1, iPad 3.2.2.

iPhone 4 Hacktivation And Unlocking

GreenPois0n can hacktivate iPhone 4. This means you no longer need the original SIM to activate your device via iTunes after jailbreaking it. In case you are on baseband 05.14.02, which is not yet supported by Ultrasn0w, you will have to wait for it’s next release.

iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 2G

GreenPois0n was earlier thought of as an all device jailbreak. But it is now confirmed by MuslceNerd that GreenPois0n jailbreak will work only for 4th generation devices, and not with iPhone 3G, 3GS, or iPod Touch 3G, 2G.
