The newly released Windows Live Essentials Beta adds a Bing Bar to your Firefox or Internet Explorer browser. Bing Bar lets you search Bing for web content, images, videos, browse and view weather forecast, news, stocks, and even videos. It adds a Private button, allowing you to switch to private browsing with a single click.

Since Bing Bar takes a bit too much space, you may want to hide it, disable it, or even remove/uninstall the toolbar entirely.

Hide Bing Bar

If you simply want to hide the toolbar then uncheck ‘Bing Bar’ in Firefox from View –> Toolbars.

Disable Bing Bar

In Firefox, you can disable the Bing Bar plugin by going to Tools –> Add-ons.

Uninstall Bing Bar

Want to remove Bing Bar from your system completely? Normally you can uninstall any Windows Live Essentials program by running the uninstaller from Control Panel –> Programs and Features. However in case of Bing Bar, you will not be able to find the option to remove it in the Uninstaller, which includes all other programs.

Bing Bar is listed as a separate program in the Programs and Features control panel applet. Simply select it and click Uninstall to remove it.
