How To Install APK Files (Non-Market Apps) On Your Android


There are couple of ways to install apps in your Android phone. One method is using Android market place and other is downloading APK file and installing it manually. There are several such free apps on internet that are not available in android market place. These are referred as Non-Market Apps.

We shall show you how to install these APK (Android Package) files in Samsung Galaxy S Android phone.

1. Since we are trying to install a Non-Market app into our devices, we need to do a small setting change on android device. Go to Applications—> Settings –> Applications—> Turn ON “Unknown sources”.

2. Download the required app in APK file format (ends with extension .apk) from internet.

3. Copy the .apk file to your android phone’s SD Card. (Tip: Create “Send To” option in Windows to directly send file by right-clicking.)

4. On your android phone, go to “Home”—> “Applications”—> “Market”.

5. Search for “AppsInstaller”. From the results list, choose “AppsInstaller” by ModMyMobile.com as shown in screen-shot below. Click “Install”.

6. After installation is complete, run the app. Apps Installer will automatically scan your SD Memory Card for APK files in it.

7. Tap on the app and go ahead with the installation.
