How To Remove Games Link From Windows 7 Or Vista Start Menu?


Is your kid spending too much time playing Games on your Windows 7/Vista PC? Try controlling your kid’s addiction by removing the link to Games from the Start Menu. Here are the steps to do it using the Local Group Policy Editor:

1. Type ‘gpedit.msc’ in Start Menu search box and hit Enter.

2. In the Local Group Policy Editor window, navigate to User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Start Menu and Taskbar on the left side.

3. In the right panel, scroll down the list to find ‘Remove Games link from Start Menu’.

4. Double click on this entry to open the setting’s dialog.

5. Choose ‘Enabled’ radio button and click OK to save your changes.

That’s it. You will no longer find the shortcut to the Games folder in your Start Menu. You don’t need a restart for this to come into effect.

Note that Local Group Policy Editor is not available on Home editions of Windows 7 or Vista. Also you need to be logged in as Administrator to carry out the above mentioned steps.
