If you have enabled Parental Control Settings Password in Comodo Firewall and later forgotten it, you will be completely handicapped to do any further changes in settings. Shut down of the Comodo Firewall is also not possible without the password.
What more, you can’t even Uninstall Comodo Firewall! There is a way to remove the settings password and still retain Comodo Firewall’s other settings.
Follow these steps to remove the forgotten password. You can later set a new password if desired.
1. Start the Windows in Safe Mode. (For booting in ‘Safe mode’, keep hitting the F8 key during system start-up)
2. Open Registry Editor.
- (Windows XP Users: Start –> Run –> Type regedit and click OK)
- (Windows Vista Users: Start ->All Programs -> Accessories -> Run-> Type regedit and click OK)
3. In the left Pane of the Registry Editor, Propagate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE–>SYSTEM–>Software–>ComodoFirewall Pro–>Configurations–>Settings.
4. Now in the Right Pane of Registry Editor, right-click on ‘Password Enabled’ key and delete it. Also delete the ‘Password hash’ key.
5. Close Registry Editor and Restart the system.
Comodo Firewall should now not ask for settings password.
