How to Reset Start Menu Settings to Default in Windows 7
Windows 7 Start Menu can be customized in many ways. Some examples that we have already covered are how to show the Recently Opened Document list in Start Menu and how to clear Recently Opened Documents and Programs list from Start Menu.
After playing around with Start Menu’s settings, you may wish to ultimately revert to the default Start Menu. You can restore Start Menu to it’s default state by following these steps:
1. Right click on Start Menu and click Properties.
2. The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window opens.
3. Click Customize…

4. In the Customize Start Menu window, click on ‘Use Default Settings’ and click ‘OK’ for the default settings to take effect.
