How to Root Acer Iconia A500 on Android 3.1 Honeycomb
Things are moving at lightening speed for the Acer Iconia S500. We earlier covered article on rooting the Acer Iconia A500 tab running Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Time to move on. You can now root the Acer Iconia A500 tab running Android 3.1 Honeycomb!
Credits goes to XDA developer ‘sc2k’ who has brought the simplest method to root the Iconia tab. Here is how you can root the Iconia A500.
1. Download iconiaroot-1.0.apk to computer.
2. By any means like the USB connection or by Bluetooth, get the downloaded APK format app to the phone’s memory and remember the location.
3. Now on the phone enable installation of Non-market apps by going to Settings > Applications > check the “Unknown sources”.
4. Now navigate to the copied app and launch it.
5. You will see a warning. Accept it and proceed with the installation.
6. Launch the app and hit ‘Root’.
That’s it. Your Acer Iconia A500 should now be rooted!
If you wish to unroot the tab, launch the app and tap on ‘Unroot’.
