How to view Saved Passwords in Firefox
Whenever you log in to any website or email accounts like Gmail, Hotmail, etc, Firefox lets you save the login credentials viz. username and password. The first time you log in, Firefox pops up a question “Do you want Firefox to remember this password?”. From the next time onwards all passwords are automatically filled up by Firefox from the ‘saved passwords’ database.
This makes your browsing life easier and your memory weak as there is no longer any need to remember all those pesky passwords! But what if you needed to login from another PC or a different browser on your own PC and could not remember the password? There is a simple solution to this. You can view all your saved passwords in Firefox by following these steps:
1. Go to Tools –> Options.
2. Select the Security Tab.
3. Click on Saved Passwords. In the Saved Passwords window, the Site URL and the username are displayed by default.
4. In order to view the passwords, click on Show Passwords.
All your passwords are displayed besides the ‘Username’ column. Though this feature offers convenience in browsing, it is a bit scary because any one who gets access to your PC can easily view all your saved passwords.
This is the reason why it is strongly recommended that you always browse in Private Browsing mode (kiosk mode) whenever you are using a public PC. If you often browse on your Office PC, then set a master password in Firefox so that no one else can view your saved passwords. Apart from viewing, you can also manage the Saved Passwords by adding or removing sites to the list.
