iOS 4.1.1 Release May Make Limera1n And GreenPois0n Tethered, Save SHSH Blobs Now!

Now that Limera1n and GreenPois0n can both jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, 3G, and iPad 3.2.2, Apple may try to patch the untethered part of the exploit (used in both the tools, thanks to Comex) in an upcoming firmware release. Also the daylight savings bug of the alarm clock app in iOS 4.1 needs to be fixed, so iOS 4.1.1 release seems imminent.

Now is the time to save your SHSH blobs for iOS 4.1 using TinyUmbrella, so that you can later downgrade to a previous firmware version, just in case you accidentally upgrade to iOS 4.1.1 and your jailbreak becomes tethered (there after you will have to connect your device to your Computer every time you reboot). So it’s better to stay away from this update,as it does not include any major feature.

Save SHSH Blobs For iOS 4.1

1. Download TinyUmbrella (link at bottom).

Mac users, drag drop the DMG file to your desktop or applications folder, or you will encounter repeated password prompts.

2. Double click to run the application.

In case Windows Firewall asks for permission, click ‘Allow Access’.

3. Connect your device (iPhone 4, 3GS/3G, iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G, iPad, or even the recently released Apple TV 2G) to your Computer via USB, and let TinyUmbrella detect the device.

4. Click on ‘Save My SHSH’ after your device is detected.

The latest release of TinyUmbrella (version 4.1.6) includes support for iPod Touch 8B118. So for those seeing the message ‘unknown device’ for their iTouch in TinyUmbrella can now save their SHSH blobs.
