Jailbreak iOS 4.1 iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS With GreenPois0n

GreenPois0n, which finally became available after an initial delay due to Limera1n release can jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, 3G, and iPad. The SHAtter exploit initially expected to be included with GreenPois0n which was already shown to jailbreak iPod Touch 4G and Apple TV 2G is now postponed for a future device jailbreak.

We have already given step by step guides to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iTouch 4G, iTouch 3G, and iPad 3.2.2 using Limera1n:

Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS

Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G, 3G

Jailbreak iPad 3.2.2

Those of you who find Limera1n not working with your device may want to give GreenPois0n a try.

Warning For iPhone Unlockers

You need to be on iOS 4.1 in order to jailbreak with GreenPois0n. But if you update directly to iOS 4.1 via iTunes, then you will also get a baseband update, which may cause you to lose your unlock forever. For iPhone 4 users only, here is how you can update to iOS 4.1 without upgrading your baseband.

iPhone 3GS users, you may want to use PwnageTool to jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 3GS if you want to preserve the baseband 1.59.00.

iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3G, Apple TV 2G

Currently GreenPois0n does not support iPod Touch 2G and iPhone 3G, similar to Limera1n.

Use redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G.

A near future release is expected to include support for iPod Touch 2G and Apple TV 2G.

Save SHSH Blobs For iOS 4.1

iOS 4.1.1 release is coming soon, with Apple fixing the daylight savings bug in the alarm app as well as patching the untethering part of the exploit used in GreenPois0n and Limera1n. If the untethered exploit given by Comex is fixed, then you would still be able to jailbreak but your jailbreak will be tethered.

This is the time to save SHSH Blobs for iOS 4.1 using TinyUmbrella, which now has support for Apple TV 2G.

Jailbreak iOS 4.1 iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS

1. Download GreenPois0n (all download links at bottom).

2. Power off your iPhone and connect it to your Computer via USB cable.

3. Launch GreenPois0n jailbreak and click ‘Prepare to Jailbreak (DFU)’ button.

4. Next follow the instructions given by GreenPois0n. The first is to press and hold the Sleep button for 2 seconds.

5. CONTINUE holding the Sleep button. Press and hold the Home button for 10 seconds.

6. Now release the Sleep button. But CONTINUE holding the Home button for another 15 seconds.

7. Now you should see the ‘Jailbreak!’ button which means that your device is ready to be jailbroken.

8. Hit the ‘Jailbreak!’ button and let GreenPois0n complete the process by injecting the bootrom exploit.

Do not do anything as long as it shows ‘Jailbreaking…’.

9. Once the jailbreak is done, you should see the inactive button ‘Jailbreak Complete!’. Click on ‘Quit’.

That’s it. After your iPhone restarts, you can find the Loader app on your Homescreen. Start this app to install Cydia on your iPhone. Once Cydia is installed you will be asked if you want to remove the Loader from your device. Click ‘Remove’ to remove the Loader.

After your iPhone restarts, you will find the Cydia icon on your Homescreen.

Your iPhone 4 or 3GS is now completely jailbroken!
