Download Spirit To Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2/3.1.3, iPad 3.2 Untethered

Spirit, the userland untethered jailbreak for iPhone firmware 3.1.2/3.1.3 has been in anticipation for quite some time now. Spirit was found to be working for iPad 3.2 too. Spirit is similar to Blackra1n, the single click jailbreak tool. However contrary to expectations, Spirit cannot unlock your device, and is also not browser based.

Spirit can jailbreak iPhone 3G/3GS, iPod Touch 2G/3G, and iPad on firmware 3.1.2/3.1.3/3.2. It is available for both Windows and Mac OSX, and works only with activated devices that are not stuck on the ‘Connect to iTunes’ or the Emergency Call screens.

Before you go ahead with jailbreak of  your iPhone or iPad, make sure you save your SHSH files locally or to Saurik’s server. This will help you to downgrade to older firmware, in case of accidental upgrade.

Note: If you have unlocked your iPhone 3G/3GS, then do not upgrade your firmware to 3.1.3. Restore your firmware to 3.1.2 if you have your SHSH blobs.

Running Spirit On Windows

Those of you who have Antivirus software installed on your PC, may see a false positive for the Spirit exe file. Avira does throw up a malware found message, indicating Spirit as a TR/Dropper.Gen Trojan.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista users, if you see error c0000005, you need to run the program in compatibility mode. Right click on the downloaded Spirit.exe file, and select ‘Properties’. Go to the ‘Compatibility’ tab, and select the check box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’. Select ‘Windows 98/Windows Me’ from the drop down menu. You need to have administrator privileges to run Spirit.

For me the iPhone is the best smart phone ever made. However, I’m not buying it unless it has a multitasking capabilities… I’m sure apple will make a way to address that problem…

    Hi,
Can you please help me…. I have attempted numerous times to download spirit.exe (as well as the alternative link for Windows) and I have changed the compatability…I have even tried saving it and then running it…. Windows continues to close the program when I click on the spirit button saying, ‘dl.exe has stopped working’ a problem has caused this program to stop working. The error code is c000035a.
