Laptop Battery Status: Keep Track with BattCursor


BattCursor brings battery status notification to your mouse cursor, literally! This feature and option rich application for Windows Vista and 7 lets you keep a watch on your dying battery easily. You don’t have to keep glancing now and then at the battery status icon in the status bar. BattCursor adds the left over battery percentage beneath the mouse cursor thus keeping you constantly informed as you work on your notebook.

image BattCursor gives a lot of options to configure the look and feel of the mouse cursor, the application’s tray symbol, sidebar “overlay” in Windows Vista and other such visual notifications. It also lets you customize the cursor color for various levels of your laptop’s battery.

This free and small utility can show all the information pertaining to the battery like the remaining run time, battery voltage, power etc. It can also display advanced information like the battery’s designed and actual capacity, discharging rate, cycle count etc thus giving you an overview of it’s health. BattCursor lets you specify various events like unplugging of power source etc. to get notifications of battery status either on an on screen display or in the system tray in the status bar.

Apart from keeping you informed of battery status, BattCursor lets you quickly change the power settings of your laptop by switching between it’s preset power profiles. BattCursor can switch automatically between the ‘High performance’ and ‘Max power saving’ modes. BattCursor gives Vista users easy access to disable features like the windows sidebar and aero glass to save power when running on battery.

BattCursor is available in English and German. It is indeed a very useful utility for laptop users, with it’s wide range of options and flexibility. However it is a Windows Vista and 7 only application. BattCursor has support for automatic updates and it requires .NET framework 2.0 or higher.
