Mounting or Unmounting a VHD file in Windows 7 requires you to dig into the disk management options(Computer Management –> Storage). VHD Attach is a small free utility which lets you mount/unmount your VHDs easily from the right click context menu.

This Windows Shell extension adds the options “Attach” and “Detach” to the context menu when you right click on a VHD file. VHD Attach can also be used to simply view the details of any VHD file. It shows information such as file name, file path, attached path, virtual and actual size etc. It works with both Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2, both of which are the only ones to currently support VHD format.
