OxyLED MD20 Flashlight is one of the recent additions in the world of CREE LED based portable flashlights. In this review, let us take a look at what the product has to offer, and you can then decide whether it suits your needs.
In the package you get:
- Plastic box that holds all things together
- Rechargeable Battery
Design and Build Quality
The box is made of hard plastic with latches on all sides, and comes with foam cushion inside. The light unit is made of Aluminum coated in black paint. The ON/OFF button has a rubber padding, and the lens is made of glass.
The body has a clip for easy carry in the pocket like a pen. The supplied Li-ion battery is a rechargeable, and is rated at 3.7V. You can also use the standard Ni-MH AA battery. The unit designed to be IPX-6 waterproof compliant, which implies it can work under heavy rain too. The only complain we have is with the carry-on strap attached to the box – it somehow manages to always come in way while latching the box. The solution is to move the strap away, but it could have been taken care at factory itself.
The light has 3 different mode including High, Low, and Strobe modes. All these three modes produces equal illuminated circle of light. If you want a zoomable function, pull the head slightly from the body. Along with the Flashlight, you also get a 14500 Rechargable battery and its charger – nice value for money.
Coming to performance, we are surprised at the amount of light produced by this palm sized flashlight. In technical terms, this unit has a CREE-LED bulb that produces a 250 Lumens of light that is consistent across entire circle of light. During our tests, the light had a runtime of around 1 Hr in High mode. The time taken for the battery to charge from 0 to full capacity is around 3 Hrs.
