This year MIT Clean Energy Prize of $200,000 went to a startup which created insulation for refrigerators using Rice Husk Ash. A total of 25 semi-finalists competed for the prize from the five categories of Biomass, Clean Hydrocarbons, Energy Efficiency and Infrastructure , Renewables and Transportation.

Mozilla labs has released a beta application named Prism. Prism is designed to create a better environment for running your favorite web-based applications such as your favorite website or mail client. With this application, you can create short-cuts of websites right on your desktop and access each of them in a dedicated window. Crashing of any one application will not affect others.
Biofuels are produced from renewable biological resources such as plants, trees, municipal and household bio waste. We all have heard of ethanol, a common bio fuel made from fermented sugars. Corn, Sugar Cane, Soy, Sugar Beet, Palm oil, Jatropha and even cellulose of trees are used to produce biofuels. Initially these fuels stirred a lot of interest from the alternative fuels industry as they were deemed to be a good substitute for the fossil fuels.But lately they are under harsh criticism as they are perceived as a giveaway to agri-business leading to inflated food prices around the world. Norton has come up with a brand new Internet Security suite which they claim to be faster and lighter than it’s competitors. Recently Norton is involved in a big advertising campaign in most of the websites about their latest product. It can be recalled that the older versions were sluggish in performance.

Gmail Labs, the testing ground for Gmail, is experimenting with a new “Search” box for user’s convenience. On enabling this feature, a search box appears on the left side of the gmail page.This feature offers direct search results from google. That means you need not leave gmail inorder to search something in google. Presently, the search box at the top gives search results in a new window. (more…)
Bluetooth 3.0 is the next higher technology innovation by the Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group). This version offers 10 times faster data rates compared to the Bluetooth 2.0 EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) which gives 3 Mbps.
