How To Perform And Restore NANDROID Backup In Android
When it comes to Android mods, it’s important to take NANDROID Backup of your phone that comes to rescue incase disaster strikes in. Things like flashing custom ROM, rooting, mods, tweaks, etc involve risks and hence we highly recommend you to take NANDROID backup before attempting such actions.
So what does NANDROID backup mean? When you take NANDROID backup, it means you are backing up entire ROM stored in your Android’s phone’s internal memory. That means you are taking backup of complete software in your phone. So when something goes wrong, you have the chance to restore your phone to the backup state using the NANDROID Backup.
GUIDES TO PERFORM NANROID BACKUP
Note that your android device should have following requirements fulfilled before heading to instructions on performing NANDROID Backup.
PREREQUISITES
1. Your android device should be rooted. You can search rooting guides for various android devices in our site.
2. Download and install ROM Manager App on your android phone. Open Android Market and search for “ROM Manager” app. Alternatively, scan the below QR Code which will directly lead to free ROM Manager.

3. Install ClockworkMod Recovery on your phone. Head-over to our guide on installing ClockworkMod Recovery.
NANDROID BACKUP INSTRUCTIONS
Method 1 – Manual Recovery
1. Launch ROM Manager App.
2. Under the “Recovery” section, tap on “Reboot into Recovery”.

3. Now your android phone will reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery. Use Volume keys to navigate to option “Backup and Restore” and click “Power” key to select it.
4. Tap “Backup” and wait for the process to complete.
That’s it. The NANDROID backup is now complete and it will be stored in the phone’s internal memory with latest timestamp. You can then connect your phone to your computer and copy the backup files.
Method 2 – Using ROM Manager
1. Launch ROM Manager App.
2. Scroll down to “Backup and Restore” section and tap on “Backup Current ROM”.

3. The device will prompt for Backup name. You may enter a new one or keep the default name. Tap “OK”.

4. Now sit back and relax for around 10 minutes. Your device will automatically reboot and start the backup process. Depending on the size of the ROM, it may take sometime for the process to complete.
After the backup is complete, you will see the backup file with the same name given in Step 3 located in the root of the phone’s internal SD memory card. You can copy that into a safe place on your PC.
GUIDE TO RESTORE NANROID BACKUP
At times when disaster strikes your android phone and time to restore from the NANDROID backups, proceed with the following instructions. Note that the requirements are the same as in case of creating a NANDROID Backup. You also need to have the backup NANDROID file in phone’s memory. If you have moved it to your computer, make sure your put it back to the root of the phone’s memory!
1. Launch ROM Manager.
2. Scroll down to “Backup and Restore” section and tap on “Manage and Restore Backups”.
3. Now select the backup NANDROID file. If you didn’t rename the file, it should be there with date and time stamp.
4. Click “Yes” for superuser rights in any.
Then sit back up and relax while the restoring process is completed. After restoration, your phone will automatically reboot to the backed up state.
