Microsoft Office 2010 is not yet publicly available, though you can currently download Office 2010 RTM (if you are a Technet subscriber )or Office 2010 Professional Plus Beta. While some of you may have already started creating slideshows and sharing them using PowerPoint 2010, your friends or colleagues may not be able to open them on their PC.

Now you can view PowerPoint presentations without having PowerPoint 2010 installed on your PC. Microsoft has updated PowerPoint Viewer to support the latest and upcoming version, including embedded video with all the cool transitions. It also supports password-protected files, and registers itself as the default program for file types .ppt, .pptx, .pptm, .pot, .potx, .potm, .pps, .ppx, and .ppsm extensions.

The viewer lets you run slideshows created using PowerPoint 1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, and 2010. You cannot edit PowerPoint presentations using it.
