Sony PS3 Firmware 3.56 Released; Patches Geohot’s Jailbreak Exploit
This one was expected and was a quick move from Sony. A software update to the Sony PS 3 has been released upgrading the firmware version from the popular 3.55 to 3.56. Sony says the update is a minor one that applies security patches.

Sony’s move was clear. The update patches the popular Geohot’s Jailbreak exploit stopping device from installing 3rd party firmware.
To check the version in your PS3, go to “Settings” –> “System Settings”–> “System Information”. The information is shown in the “System Software” field. If you are not one of those playing around installing custom firmware on your PS3, go ahead and download the firmware 3.56 update and install it for keeping your device up-to-date!
