URL Snooper: Find Dynamic URL Of Streaming Audio, Video

Most of the streaming audio and video websites hide the URLs behind scripts or clever masking. Normally it is not possible to know such URLs by simply analyzing the HTML of the web page. When you place your mouse over such URLs you will be only able to see some thing similar to ‘javascript:openwindow()’ in your browser status bar.

In situations when you want to record such streaming media, URL Snooper, a free HTTP Request monitoring software comes as a great help.URL Snooper uses the WinPCap network sniffing driver to analyze all the HTTP traffic to retrieve streaming multimedia URLs of formats such as Flash, AVI, Windows Media, Real Media etc.

If you like, you can select a different sniffing engine driver and network adapter from the ‘Options’ tab. Working with URL Snooper is in many ways similar to that of a general packet analyzer. Only here you can easily find streaming URLs for a particular site that has been opened in your default browser by using Protocol and Keyword filtering.

You can make URL Snooper to keep a watch on all traffic belonging to a non-default browser and also add any 3rd party applications such as a streaming media recorder to it’s right click context menu for easy launching over a media URL. URL Snooper works even without a browser. You can simply give the URL of the website to be analyzed (‘File –> Type a URL to Load and Sniff’) and it will automatically retrieve all the streaming URLs on that page.
