How To Reveal Password Hidden Behind Asterisk

Many of us use “Remember Password” option while logging into websites, mail accounts etc in internet browsers. This option when used eliminates the need of entering password. Internet Browser automatically fields the password field once you specify user ID.

But having said that, over-a-period of time, you tend to forget the password associated with the user ID. You are still able to login because the internet browser is remembering the password for you. It shows the password as “Asterisk” (*). We will show you how to reveal/recover password hidden behind asterisk.

“Asterisk Key” is a freeware tool that lets you recover password hidden behind asterisk. Here is how you can do it:

1. Download, install and launch Asterisk Key program (link given at the end of this article).

2. Open the login page in internet browser and key in login ID for which you need to recover password from browser. For example we want to recover password for our Gmail account. As you key in user ID, browser will fill the password field. login-gmail-sample 3. In the “Asterisk Key” interface, click on “Recover” button. The program automatically scans all the browser login pages that has asterisk and right away reveals the password!
