Review: Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speakers
Companion 2 Series II is the least expensive set of 2.0 computer multimedia speakers from Bose. It comes with a price tag of USD99.
In the Box -2 Multimedia Speakers (One powered) -Detachable AC Adapter 12V, 1.2A -Speaker cable -Audio input cable with RCA plugs -Owner’s guide
Build Quality
Speakers are elegant, stylish, rigid and strong. Right side speaker is powered and a jack connects to left speaker. The adapter is transformer based, hence it’s bulky. It could have been better if they had used light-weight digital circuit based AC adapter which is now-a-days common in electronic products like Laptop adapter and Cell phone chargers.

Connectivity
These set of speakers comes with a standard 3.5mm jack for audio input, which is common for audio products like portable mp3 players, laptop and PC’s. It has dual inputs for easy connection to computer and additional audio sources. A audio socket at the front face of the powered speaker comes easy to connect headphone.

Sound Reproduction
The sound quality of Companion 2 is excellent considering the compact product size. The speakers produce rich and noise free sounds. We tested many tracks of different genres. The speakers are well designed to produce high-quality sound even at high volumes. At high volumes, we found Bass levels become a bit flatter to avoid distortion. Vocal and treble reproduction is very good. If you are a bass fan and can’t compromise on it, we advice you to choose a 2.1 system with a dedicated Woofer. Having said this, these little speakers do reproduce decent bass output. The bass reproduction in these speakers could be attributed to their depth design.

We couldn’t find the RMS or PMPO values of the speakers. Hence we are unable to give you their wattage. That’s how Bose sells their products. No watts, No RMS values! Experience these speakers in our Youtube video. Make sure you play the video with good quality sound system/head phone so that you can hear closest to what we recorded!

Good
-Compact Design
-Great sound
Not So Good
-Expensive in it’s category
-Output Wattage unknown (makes it difficult to judge it’s acoustics)
CONCLUSION
Good buy for those quality-sensitive music lovers who can differentiate between true sound and normal listening . We would call it “small speakers, big sound”.
