How To Root Samsung Galaxy S With Android 2.2 Froyo


Rooting (Superuser rights) your android device gives the ability to install many advanced apps that increases the usability of the device.  Earlier getting root access was not an easy task to novice users. It involved lengthy and complicated terminal process. Gone are those days. It’s one-click root access apps that gives peace of mind to android users.

Z4Root is a free android app that gives one-click rooting. We will now show you how to do rooting on Samsung Galaxy S with android 2.2 Froyo.

Disclaimer: The method that we presented below is tested on Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) with Android 2.2 Froyo. Proceed at your own risk. We are not responsible if you brick your phone.

1. On your device, download and install “Z4root” by RyanZA. You can find it in Market or use QR code to scan and download the free app. (This app is no more available in Market. Download z4root in apk format from link given at end of this article.)

2. Reboot your android device.

3. Launch Z4root app.

4. Z4 Root gives you two options of rooting. Tap on “Permanent Root”.

5. Now begins the magic! The app will automatically do all the hard work of finding the exploit and giving you root access. During the process it will also install “Busybox”. If you are unaware of this term, it is a set of UNIX utilities packed into a single small executable file.

Note: Many users have faced problem at this step. The device hangs up at first stage saying “Running exploit in order to obtain root access…”. If you are also struck up at this stage, simply reboot your device and launch the app again.

6. This will follow with following messages: “Acquiring root shell…” and “ Please wait while root operations complete…”. Don’t do anything at this point.

7. You phone will automatically reboot.

After reboot is complete, you will see a new icon “Superuser” in the screen. This means your device is successfully rooted. Enjoy!
