Safari 5 Available For Download For Windows And Mac OSX

Exactly an year after Safari 4 got released, Apple has silently released Safari 5, the latest version of their browser for Windows and Mac OS X. While Safari 4 brought the Top Sites tab, cover flow and a full history search, Safari 5 adds Safari reader that lets you read online articles free of distraction, better HTML5 support with added geo location services, full screen view for HTML5 video, a faster JavaScript engine, support for developing extensions a la Firefox or Google Chrome, built-in search options including Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

The Safari extensions gallery is not yet live, but expected to be available soon. Other enhancements include smart suggestions in address field similar to Firefox’s address bar which matches your typed URL to one from bookmarks or history, hardware acceleration for windows, opening new web pages in tabs instead of windows, and improved web inspector for developers.

Safari Reader is a real bliss for all those who are not capable of reading online articles without getting distracted to colorful banners or ads. Whenever you open a full length article in Safari, as opposed to the home page of a website, and you will see the Reader icon in the address field. Clicking on it overlays the article on top of the website with clear and easy to read font. safari-reader-online-articles
