Search And Read Google Books From Desktop Using GooReader

Google Books is a great place to read free ebooks, with it’s ever increasing collection and fast content search. For those of you who regularly read and download Google Books, here is a free desktop application GooReader. Unlike Google Book Downloader which lets you only download boooks, GooReader lets you search, read and even export them as PDF (paid version only).

You can search for a book either by it’s name or by ID. GooReader has an impressive UI resembling a book shelf with standing books, similar to the iBooks app for iPad. Hover your mouse over a book, and you get to view the ‘Read Book’ icon if the book is fully readable. The labels on the books are indicative of it’s availability, green for full access, yellow for a book with preview pages, and red for no preview.

GooReader has some nice animation effects, including the page flipping effect. You can also jump to a page directly by entering it’s number, adjust the page width.

Want to get more books in search results? Click on the settings button (to the left of minimize) to open GooReader options dialog. Here you can increase or decrease the zoom level, show more books, and change the page width.
