ToDoList: Free Task Manager With Advanced Task Management Options


There are many task managers available, both desktop software as well as online tools such as Remember The Milk, Gmail’s in-built task organizer. Most of them have a simple interface; you can add tasks to the list, sort them, find them, set reminders, and so on.

However for Power users like project managers or team leaders, such simple tools are not enough to keep track of a high number of tasks, each of them having multiple sub tasks. ToDoList, a free and open source task management software has all that you need to manage a complex project. You can add any number of subtasks, append notes as either plain text or in rich text format, choose task icons, set task reminders, set priorities, and so on.

This free to do list manager lets you import and export task lists, search for tasks by applying many filters, including percentage of completion, priority, due date, status, time spent on it, the person it is allocated to, estimated time for completion, and category.

ToDoList, with it’s hierarchical task management features can be used by a team of multiple users to manage even high level projects, such as software development. Other features include support for source control, extendable through free plug-ins such as Calendar, Gantt Viewer, archiving (backup) of selected tasks, subtask inheritance during the lifetime of the parent task, playing of sounds for reminders, and so on.
