Turn Off Taskbar Thumbnails in Windows 7 and Speed Up your PC
In Windows 7, the taskbar is a complete redesign and is fondly called the Superbar. With brand new features such as large icons, ability to rearrange them by drag and drop, pinned items, thumbnail preview of open windows (Aero Peek) etc, the Windows 7 taskbar is really rocking. However not every one is comfortable with the Aero Peek feature of Windows 7. Especially if they have a low configuration system which is becoming sluggish in performance because of the high resource intensive Aero effects.
Are you irritated with your PC slowing down every time you hover the mouse over a Taskbar icon? You can disable Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail Preview and shed the load on your system. Here is how you can do this:
1. Log in as an Administrator into your Windows 7 computer.
2. Click the Start Menu and type “gpedit.msc” in the search box. Hit enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor.
3. Navigate to User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Start Menu and Taskbar.
4. On the right side pane scroll down to the end of the list to find ‘Turn off taskbar thumbnails’ and double click this entry. In the following Setting window (see image below), select Enabled and click OK.
From now on whenever you hover your mouse over an icon in the Taskbar you will only see text tooltips.
