GDocsUploader: Drag And Drop Files To Upload To Google Docs
Google Docs is widely used for storing as well as sharing and collaborating on documents. While Google Docs interface is pretty easy to use and has recently added batch conversion and downloading of files, it does not yet feature any drag and drop functionality for uploading multiple files at once.
There are some free tools that let you easily upload to Google Docs, including the Send to Google Docs Chrome extension, and NoteSync, a free Beta tool that lets you take notes and sync them automatically with your Google Docs account. However none of these tools support dragging and dropping of files from your desktop for uploading.
Here is GDocsUploader, an Adobe AIR based program, that does one and only one thing. It lets you drag and drop files to upload them automatically, one after the other to your Google Docs account. You need to login with your Google Docs account, before you start uploading.

Once a file is uploaded, you can view it in Google Docs by clicking on the ‘View in Web Browser’ link, which opens up the document in your default browser. GDocsUploader displays the progress of the file being uploaded, and when successful shows a complete green band for that file. Any errors while uploading will result in red bands, with helpful information.

Since this is an Adobe AIR based application, it works on multiple platforms including Windows (7/Vista/XP), Linux, Mac OSX. The utility works pretty well, however it is very basic and lacks those extra desired features like choosing the Google Docs folder for uploads, uploading entire folders, parallel uploads for further speed improvements, and so on. We hope that the developer continues to bring in such enhancements in future releases.
