Use your Gmail Account as Online Backup with Gmail Drive
Have you any time checked out the used storage in your Gmail account? See the bottom of the page when you log in to your Gmail to know how much space you have taken up. You will be surprised to see how less you are using of the total available 7 GB free storage provided by Google. What if you can make use of this space by using Gmail as an online backup service?
Gmail Drive, a Windows freeware lets you convert your Gmail into a virtual storage drive on your PC. This free Windows Shell Extension integrates into your system’s right-click context menu to give you a single click access to file uploads. Gmail Drive adds a drive to your My Computer folder, similar to the existing C drive or a CD/DVD drive. You can use this drive just like any other drive such as creating folders, copying and moving files by drag and drop, deleting files etc.
Whenever a file is added to the Gmail Drive, it creates an E-mail message with that file as attachment and sends it to your Gmail account. Vice versa, any incoming mail attachments are retrieved to your local file system on Gmail Drive. You can avoid the cluttering of your Gmail Inbox by filtering out the Gmail Drive generated emails which have a prefix of GMAILFS in their subject.
