How To View Computer Reliability And Problem History In Windows 7?

Advertisements

In Windows 7, similar to Windows Vista, you can view all the application crashes, Windows failures, Warnings, and other failure information on a timeline. When you come across a critical event, you can view it’s technical details and also check for a solution to the problem easily. The tool that lets you review the hardware and software problems on your Windows 7 PC is the Reliability Monitor.

Here are the steps to open Reliability Monitor:

1. Go to Control Panel –> System and Security –> Action Center.

2. Under the Maintenance section, click on the chevron (down arrow) to view more options that are hidden by default.

3. Under the ‘Check for solutions to problem reports’ section, click on ‘View reliability history’.

4. You will then see a message saying ‘Reliability Monitor is generating the report. Please wait…’.

You can now view all the major problems that occurred on your System on a timeline, that can be toggled to ‘Days’ or ‘Weeks’. Clicking on a date or week will give complete list of all failures that happened on that day or in that week. The graph represents the system’s stability on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 is the most stable state while 1 is the least.

For many Windows 7 items you’re looking for, rather than navigate through menu options, I find it easier just to type what you want in the search box. In this case, type ‘reliability’ in the search box and immediately you’ll see ‘view reliability history’ listed, which you can then click. You’re then taken straight there. This method is a lot quicker!
