How To Add Files In Network Into Windows Movie Maker

Normally Windows Movie Maker won’t let you add movies, images and such file data from Network location. When you access files in Network location and try to add them to Windows Movie Maker, it throws up error message saying that “Files can’t be added directly from a network folder into Movie Maker. Copy the files to your computer, and then try again”.

This is frustrating many times when you want to make a movie from videos stored in a Network location. The frustration adds up if you have a large size file data in Network and it may take a hell lot of time for copying it to your local computer.

By editing registry, one can make Windows Movie Maker to access files from Network location. To make it easier, we have created a registry file.

1. Login to your Windows 7 PC with Administrator rights.

2. Download “Allow Movie Maker Access Files Network”.

3. Right-click on the downloaded registry file and select “Merge”.
